Session Preparation

ONLINE SESSIONS VIA ZOOM

Remote sessions, both individual and group, will be conducted via the Zoom platform. If you have not previously used it, a quick download will be required to access the meeting. Prior to your session, you will be emailed a link and password to join the video conference. To ensure your audio and video is working correctly, you can watch this short tutorial on Zoom’s website.

For group sessions, you can choose to keep your video camera on or off, and you’re welcome to switch it on/off as you wish. If your camera is on during the journey, it is best to position your device so that I can see your torso while reclined (approx. from pelvis to head). With the visual feedback of your breathing pattern, I can better support and respond, verbally and energetically. Please have your mic muted for the duration, and there will be an opportunity at the beginning and end for sharing and introductions. At that time, you will be invited to unmute your mic and share.

During the session, I will be offering some verbal guidance, although most of the support will be conducted energetically/shamanically. Does that really work? YES! Remote healing work is surprisingly and profoundly effective, and many participants report feeling like I, and other helpers, are right there with them. There will be music playing to support your journey, and you will also hear the sounds of my rattling, drumming, and chanting. We will do an audio test before the journey so you can adjust your device volume in response to the music at its loudest setting.

You can choose to listen via your device’s external speaker, or, some choose to wear headphones for a more immersive soundscape experience.

YOUR SPACE & PROPS:

  • Privacy. Please find a quiet space in your home where you will not be disrupted and feel your body can relax deeply and not be “on guard.” I do recommend making some sound (toning) in this work, so it might be helpful to have a pillow to sound into should there be related sensitives in your space.

  • Props. You will want some cushion beneath you (couch, bed, or yoga mat with blankets) to support your comfort while reclined for approximately 60-minutes, with a thin pillow under your head. Please ensure to have some blankets nearby, as body temperature can fluctuate in this work. If an eye mask or bandana (to block out ambient light) feels supportive for your inward journey, you might also choose to have one on hand. If you have a sensitive low back, you might also consider propping several pillows under your knees, or having your angled over the bed or a chair.

  • Comfort. Please feel free to come as you are. You can wear your pijamas, you can wear your scrubs. Or perhaps you feel inclined to wear “ceremonial” clothing. All is welcome.

PREPARATION & AFTER SESSION CARE

  • Hydrate. Drink plenty of water before and especially after your session to support hydration and the detox aspects of this work. You might also consider adding electrolyte tablets to replenish and restore. And be sure to use the restroom prior to the breathwork journey.

  • Nourish. Please refrain from eating a large meal prior, and you might find some helpful grounding support after with a protein rich snack or meal.

  • Detox and ground. Epsom salt baths are a wonderful way to support the detox process, as well as magnesium absorption. You might also consider taking a walk in nature following the session, or even sitting by the base of a tree for grounding support.

  • Rest, as needed. This can be deep and powerful work on many levels, and it’s possible to feel tired after this process. Similarly to deep tissue massage, the body can continue to release and “detox” after the release and unwinding process, and you may feel tired or heavy immediately following. Rest, drink water, and if possible, go for a slow walk or try a restorative yoga practice.

  • Integrate. It can be helpful to journal and/or draw after your session. Please contact me directly if you would like to presence anything that is arising in your experience, or have follow-up questions.

ARE THERE ANY PRECAUTIONS TO CONSIDER?

While active breathwork is of value to anyone interested in healing, personal growth and self-realization, some background in therapeutic and/or spiritual work is helpful to remain in a state of witnessing awareness while the body processes old energetic holdings.

The intensity of the experience has some correlation to the depth and vigor of your breathing, and you are always encouraged to honor your limits, and to back off anytime by releasing the active process and breathing slowly, softly, and naturally. Our orientation to this work is always one of utmost self-respect, compassion, and non-harming, and I encourage you to engage a pace that allows you to stay present to what’s arising in your experience. We are not trying to “blast through” or “blast off” – the intention of this work is not to have a peak experience, but to positively impact your day-to-day experience and ability to live a meaningful, inspired, and healthy life. You are ALWAYS in control of the breath, and again, you can adjust the dial of this practice as needed.

*As breathwork can be physically and emotionally demandingit is contraindicated for those who are pregnant, have severe hypertension or cardiovascular disease, epilepsy, bipolar disorders or schizophrenia, and recent major surgeries and/or communicable diseases. If any of these apply to you, I encourage you to contact me to discuss potential modifications, and assess whether this process will be beneficial.

**A note on virtual breathwork and trauma. As this work can catalyze fairly intense somatic release processes, those who have experienced significant trauma may prefer to do a one-on-one session where I can be fully present to your individual experience. In some cases, it might be beneficial to wait until we’re able to do an in-person session, so that you are fully supported to engage the deep work.

Waiver & Release of LIability

In registering for a breathwork session with Tai, you must read and agree to the terms of the release and waiver of liability.

Breathwork INstruction & OVerview:

This 28-minute video serves as an introduction to breathwork for all virtual breathwork sessions and ceremonies. The breathwork technique is demonstrated, as well as ways to deepen and enrich your experience. As this information WILL NOT be addressed in our online meeting, please ensure to watch the video in full if this is your first time doing breathwork with Tai.

The gifts of entering into a sacred, experiential process for healing and growth are many, and I look forward to sharing this profound work with you!

Tai is wonderful. Her grounding energy holds a wide space allowing for anything to come through. I am fairly new to breathwork and Tai makes me feel right at home. I have personally never experienced the sense of calm and peace I feel after a session with Tai anywhere else. This work is such an amazing complement to the other healing/mindfulness modalities I enjoy. As a side note... having done both in person and virtual sessions, both are great! I’d recommend Tai to anyone open and willing to give breathwork a try.
